Charley was a multiple Best In Trial winner in Australia. In the USA Charley became only the 3rd Poodle in the history of the breed to attain the American Kennel Club (AKC) Junior Hunter field title. He achieved almost perfect scores in the four qualifying tests necessary to obtain the title. In addition, Charley attained a Working Certificate from The Poodle Club of America and several Agility titles as well as attaining his AKC Utility Dog (UD) Obedience title in just three trials.

Charley retired from dog sports at 13 years of age. Until his death at age 15 he spent his time visiting primary schools in Victoria Australia as a demonstration dog for the Responsible Pet Ownership School Education Project.
